Custom Build Aquablast 1515
Case study overview
What The Customer Says:

"The machine has performed very well and improved our cleanliness considerably...

The barrel in particular has been wonderful.”

CharNor have recently invested in a custom built Aquablast 1515 wet abrasive blasting cabinet from Vixen, for the surface treatment of remanufactured parts. CharNor, based in Illinois, USA, have provided quality remanufactured engines, transmissions and axles for forklifts, on an exchange basis to industrial equipment dealers for over 35 years.

Manually operated, the custom built Aquablast 1515 machine is particularly effective for creating a satin finish on stainless steel along with a wide range of other metals. The Aquablast range is designed to simultaneously blast and degrease components in a quick and easy dust-free process, which achieves outstanding finishing results on a variety of components.

The key to Vixen’s wetblasting process is that the finish is produced through flow of water borne abrasive and not by media impact. This helps to create a finer finish due to the lubrication and flushing action of the water during the process. Vixen’s wet blasting process eliminates media impregnation into the component, and as a result, is vastly becoming a popular choice for companies across the world.

Josh Hamilton, plant manager at CharNor, said: “We purchased a custom built Aquablast 1515 with two pumps for two man operation and a mini barrel option for small parts. The machine has performed very well and has improved our cleanliness considerably. The barrel in particular has been wonderful. Our fasteners and small parts have never been as clean and we are doing it with the only labor, this being to load and unload the barrel. As we continue to grow we will most likely buy from Vixen again.”

Vixen prides itself on the diverse range of special build machines it has to offer to companies worldwide. Vixen’s expert in-house design team work closely with any customer to develop ideas that are specifically tailored to the individual application or requirements of the client. These can include changes to the size, shape and colour of the machine.
