What The Customer Says:

Vixen’s Aquablast 915 is everything they claimed it to be on their website. It is a simple, robust, well-constructed machine that stands up well to industrial use."

The Hydroblast Shop, based in Dandenong, Melbourne, Australia, recently purchased an Aquablast 915 wet abrasive blasting cabinet from Vixen, in order to repair and restore motorcycle components.

The Hydroblast Shop is a small family owned business that does motorcycle repair, restoration and of course hydro blasting. Hydro blasting is the main focal point of the business and they also do work for various customers including car, motorcycle and vintage go kart restoration. The Hydroblast Shop have also restored industrial parts, bicycle components, antique items and they have even rescued an old Royal Enfield engine that was involved in a fire.

Manually operated, the Aquablast 915 is particularly effective for creating a satin finish on stainless steel along with a wide range of other metals. The Aquablast range is designed to simultaneously blast and degrease components in a quick and easy dust-free process, which achieves outstanding finishing results on a variety of components.

The key to Vixen’s wetblasting process is that the finish is produced through flow of water borne abrasive and not by media impact. This helps to create a finer finish due to the lubrication and flushing action of the water during the process. Vixen’s wet blasting process eliminates media impregnation into the component, and as a result, is vastly becoming a popular choice for companies worldwide.

Typical parts that The Hydroblast Shop blast on a daily basis are intake manifolds, timing covers, water pump housings, gearboxes, motorcycle heads and barrels, wheels and engine cases.

The standard process which takes place involves the following steps:

  • Assessment of the job and cost estimation
  • Masking critical areas and plugging holes if required
  • Pre cleaning (greasy items are not put into the blasting cabinet)
  • Hydro blasting
  • Rinse in fresh water and blow clean
  • Inspect
  • Application of anti-rust spray to threads and any steel surfaces, threads, valve seats etc.
  • Items bubble wrapped prior to collection/ delivery

I particularly like the fact that it is constructed from stainless steel, not GRP like some of the local machines. The slurry pump is strong and has been very reliable. As with any equipment, the unit requires regular maintenance and cleaning but this is kept to a minimum with the clever closed loop filtration system.

The service provided by Vixen has been outstanding and they stand behind their products. Purchasing the machine was made very easy by Debbie and it’s a decision I am glad I made. When minor issues have occurred, Vixen have been quick to rectify. The pressure regulator failed after about 6 months and Vixen simply express posted one to me in a few days no problem. They have been great. I have no hesitation recommending Vixen to any global customer that is considering a machine.

So far there have been nothing but smiles and compliments from happy customers on our work using the machine.”
